Senior Civil Design Engineer – Land Development

Full-Time | Western Pennsylvania
Are you a passionate, self-starting Civil Engineer with 10+ years of land development experience? This is an exceptional opportunity to work directly with some of the region's leading land developers, taking projects from conceptual design through construction management across Butler, Beaver, and Allegheny Counties.
You will play a key role in shaping communities—providing technical expertise, guiding design processes, and overseeing critical development activities.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for completing—or will be trained to complete—the following:
- Conduct comprehensive property analyses for potential development, including zoning reviews and local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Prepare conceptual site layouts for new development opportunities.
- Transform concept designs into preliminary roadway and street layouts using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Develop preliminary project cost estimates, evaluate quantities, and support project budgeting.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to CAD Designers/Drafters.
- Perform NPDES stormwater design and prepare full application packages.
- Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
- Prepare and submit permits for Local, County, PennDOT, DEP, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
- Prepare Conditional Use applications, Variances, and Rezoning submissions.
What We're Looking For
- PA Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent senior-level experience.
- Strong understanding of municipal codes, land development standards, and regulatory processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting projects to Planning Commissions, Township Supervisors, Councils, and Zoning Hearing Boards (preferred).
- Experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Hydraflow (VT/PSUHM or other hydrologic/hydraulic software), StreamStats, or HEC-RAS.
- Knowledge of PennDOT roadway and drainage design procedures (preferred).
