- Collegiate Assistant Professor (Safety Focus)
Description
The Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC) is seeking applicants for a Collegiate Assistant Professor with teaching and research expertise in construction safety, health, and well-being to begin Fall 2026 in Blacksburg, VA. This position is a nine-month, full-time appointment responsible for teaching, research, and service. There is an expectation to teach courses in the safety leadership major and to pursue and/or support safety-related research and innovation with scholarly outputs.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
-A doctoral degree in construction or a closely related discipline by the appointment start date
-Demonstrated expertise in construction safety, health, and/or well-being, e.g, as demonstrated by scholarly output and/or professional practice
-Documented experience with teaching and/or leading professional development workshops
Preferred Qualifications:
-Evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education, e.g., through teaching evaluations
-Evidence of a commitment to service
-Record of publications in peer-reviewed outlets
-Evidence of safety-related sponsored research
-Safety certifications and training, such as OSHA, CSP
